The ProINTA Puntal variety, sometimes abbreviated as Puntal in publications, is a result of Argentine breeding. In agronomic research, this variety has been used to study the effect of photoperiod on plant development, spike fertility, and the mechanisms of action of dwarfing genes.
In a number of field trials, the variety demonstrated resistance to Septoria tritici blotch and an absence of leaf spotting. In international breeding practice, this variety appears in wheat pedigrees as a parent form or a component for crossing.
