Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is of Mexican origin and is widely known in breeding research as a parent form for developing new wheat lines. In Peru, a variety of this cultivar has been developed and registered under the name INIA 428 — Santa Elena, created within the programs of the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation.

The variety is used in experimental studies to identify transgressive segregation for the period to heading and for the selection of early-maturing lines. During trials, its adaptive responses were studied, including changes in root length under water stress conditions.
