The spring common wheat variety Vinjett is characterized by short stature and compact spikes. The plants have an erect stem, which provides lodging resistance compared to older varieties and local populations.
The plant possesses a specific protein composition: a high level of gliadin content with a low content of high-molecular-weight polymeric proteins. Studies show a high concentration of protein in the grain, however, a negative correlation between this indicator and yield is noted.
The variety is often used in agronomic experiments to study the response to drought, heat stress, and to compare productivity under various farming systems, including organic.
