The variety was developed based on CIMMYT breeding material as part of the national durum wheat program. It is intended for cultivation in Mediterranean region conditions.

The plant possesses genes for resistance to leaf rust (Lr27 + Lr31). The composition of storage proteins (glutenins) ensures high gluten quality characteristics and suitability for processing into pasta.
