The variety is late-maturing, with a ripening period of about 140 days. The plant is tall, reaching an average of 145 cm, and has a semi-erect habit. The ear is spindle-shaped, long (about 10 cm), and dense or semi-dense. The grain is large, up to 7 mm long, brown in color, translucent, and vitreous.
The variety originates from the Nebrodi Mountains region in Sicily and is intended for traditional low-input farming systems. It is currently included in the register of varieties for the conservation of genetic diversity and is not an intensive-type variety.
