The variety is used in breeding research as a reference for studying the diversity of tetraploid wheats. In scientific literature, it is often characterized as a variety of unknown origin.

As part of trials conducted in Northern Italy, the variety was tested for resistance to soil-borne wheat mosaic virus, however, its status of resistance or susceptibility was not recorded as a reference.
