Diminia is a heterogeneous population of tetraploid wheat, maintained by folk selection over centuries. The plant is noted for high endurance and the ability to produce a yield in difficult climatic conditions. Morphologically, the population may include forms with both black and white awns.

The variety belongs to early-maturing crops with a very short biological cycle, which historically allowed it to be sown in spring as a catch crop. The grain of this wheat is in demand for the production of traditional bakery products, pasta, and in craft brewing due to its specific organoleptic properties and high digestibility.
