The variety has a pedigree that includes the breeding lines BARRINGA, YAQUI 50, TEHUACAN 60 and RACUR. Due to its genetic characteristics, it is frequently found in the pedigrees of more modern wheat varieties, especially in Turkey and countries of the Mediterranean basin.

The variety was studied for resistance to pathogens, in particular to stem rust and leaf rust. The presence of one gene providing resistance to specific races of stem rust was established.
