The variety originates from the hilly areas of Palermo and Trapani in Sicily. The plant is medium-maturing; the period from sowing to ripening takes about 125 days. Stem height reaches 130 cm.

The variety has a low yield of 9 c/ha. In modern production, it has been replaced by more productive breeding lines and is preserved mainly as part of agricultural biodiversity.
