The variety was bred by the breeding company PRO.SE.ME. Italia and is a product of crossing the genetic lines SIMETO, CAPEITI and VALFORTE. The purpose of the variety is for use in pasta and seed production.

The variety belongs to early-maturing genotypes. It is characterized by high grain weight, while high starch accumulation in the grains can lead to a decrease in pigment content. The variety was actively used in breeding studies aimed at examining resistance to fungal diseases, in particular rust.

In the 1990s and 2000s, the variety was widely represented in Italian variety trials.
