The plant belongs to the group of double late tulips. The fully double flowers have a peony-like shape, a velvety texture of the petals and reach 10–14 cm in diameter. The petal color ranges from purple-violet to wine-red with a pale yellow base; there is a delicate fragrance.
The stem height is from 40 to 60 cm, leaves are broadly lanceolate, of a grayish-green shade. Flowering occurs in late spring, from April to May. The variety is winter-hardy, prefers sunny areas with well-drained fertile soil without water stagnation.
