The Honky Tonk variety belongs to the botanical tulip group and is characterized by its compact size. The plant height varies from 15 to 30 cm. The flowers are narrow, acquiring a star or cup shape when opened. The primary petal color is soft lemon-yellow, with a pink or salmon-red hue often present on the outer side. The leaves are narrow, elongated, gray-green in color, often with wavy edges.

The plant belongs to early-blooming varieties; flowering occurs in April. The variety is distinguished by frost resistance and tolerance to spring winds and frosts. When planted in well-drained soil, it is capable of perennial naturalization. Sunny sites with no moisture stagnation are required for full growth and to prevent bulb rot.
