The variety was created at the Nikitsky Botanical Garden by breeder L. M. Alexandrova and named in honor of breeder K. T. Klimenko. The plant is used for decorative purposes, in particular, in the "Tulip Parade" expositions.

The petal coloration of the variety changes during the flowering process: initially the bud is white, then it acquires violet-crimson tones. According to other descriptions, pink longitudinal stripes appear against a cream background, formed by the edges of the petals.
