The Kung Red tulip variety is a representative of the Triumph group. The variety was obtained as a result of a mutation of the Kung-Fu variety.

The plant has a simple flower with a single row of petals. The flower color is classified as dark purple-red (tone 60B according to the KAVB classification) with a darker red-pink edge (tone 53C).
