The plant reaches a height of 100–120 cm, forming a sturdy habit that retains its shape throughout the season. Dark green lanceolate leaves are arranged in whorls along the stem.

Spike-like candelabra-shaped inflorescences bloom from late summer to early autumn. The variety prefers sunny or semi-shaded sites with moist, organic-rich soils and has frost resistance in the USDA zones 4–8 range.

The crop is used in landscape design for natural-style flower beds and is suitable for cutting. It is a honey plant that attracts bees and butterflies.
