The variety is characterized as very early, with a period from sowing to harvest of 3–4 months. Plants have upright stems 80–100 cm tall. The pods reach a length of 20–30 cm, each containing 8–9 large seeds of white or light green color.
Plants are characterized by cold hardiness, suitable for winter sowing in mild climates, but are sensitive to severe frosts. The variety is susceptible to black aphid infestation and the development of rot under excessive moisture. Hilling is recommended to prevent lodging.
Produce is used fresh, boiled, or canned, and as the grains mature, for the preparation of soups and purées.
