The variety «Olga» belongs to the group of small-seeded faba beans (minuta type, also known as tick bean). It is a low-tannin variety that is distinguished by white flowers and grey-beige seeds that do not darken during storage. Compared to a number of common varieties, «Olga» possesses a higher protein content in the seeds.
The plant is susceptible to infection by pathogenic fungi, including species of the genera Botrytis, Ascochyta and Fusarium, with the degree of susceptibility to infections depending on soil and climatic conditions. The variety is intended for feed purposes, in particular for use in poultry farming, due to improved digestibility and nutritional value of the protein.
