Variety description

The vines have medium to strong vigor, shoots grow vertically, and lateral shoot formation is weak. The leaf is large, seven-lobed, with a blistered dark green surface. Bunches are medium-sized, conical, and loose. Berries are yellow-green, short-oval in shape, with tough skin.

The variety has high resistance to grey mold (Botrytis cinerea), but is sensitive to frost and prone to flower/ovary drop during flowering. It prefers deep, nutrient-rich soils.

It is used for the production of white wines with pronounced acidity and fruity notes, and is also often used to create base wines for sparkling wines. Yields are higher than those of Müller-Thurgau, with somewhat lower sugar accumulation.
