The vines have medium vigor. Leaves are medium, rounded, reticulate-wrinkled, with dense pubescence on the underside. The flower is hermaphroditic. Bunches are medium or large, dense, and branched. Berries are oval, black, with thick, durable skin and a thick waxy bloom.

The variety belongs to late maturity groups. It possesses good winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to -18...-20 °C, but is highly susceptible to downy mildew (mildew). Sugar accumulation occurs slowly; during late harvests, the must can reach a sugar content of 24-26%.

The variety is endemic to the Vayots Dzor region in Armenia and was formed as a result of centuries of folk selection. The primary use is winemaking, with secondary use as a table grape variety.
