The name BOBAL BLANCA or Bobal Blanco is not an independent variety. In viticulture, it acts as a synonym for the white wine variety Alcañón, originating from the Somontano region, Spain. This variety is a natural hybrid of Macabeo and an unknown parent.

Morphologically, the Alcañón variety is characterized by a rounded five-lobed leaf, small dense conical or cylindrical-conical bunches, and small rounded golden-white berries. The variety matures in medium terms and is distinguished by low yield and low resistance to frost and fungal diseases. It is intended for the production of white wines.

This name may also indicate the rare white variety Tortosina from the Valencia region, which is not genetically related to the red grape Bobal. In a commercial context, the term "Bobal Blanco" often refers to wines obtained from the red grape Bobal using a pressing technology without skin contact (Blanc de Noirs).
