ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety has high origins from Southern Italy, genetically linked to the Mantonico Bianco variety. Historically, the variety was used for making Marsala; in modern times, it is in demand for creating dry white wines due to its soft structure, moderate acidity, and notes of almond, citrus, and ripe fruits.
The plant has high vigor and good adaptation to a hot, arid climate, showing resistance to sunburn. Maturity group is early or mid-season. Clusters are medium-sized, berries are light green or amber, characterized by the presence of tannins in the skin. The variety is prone to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew.
