The variety is a natural hybrid of the species Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The berries have a dark purple, almost black color, mucilaginous pulp, and a characteristic strawberry aroma. The skin of the fruit separates easily from the pulp.

The plant is undemanding in care and possesses good winter hardiness. The variety is universal and is used both for fresh consumption and for the production of juices and wines.
