The Savagnin variety, known locally as Naturé, belongs genetically to the Traminer family and is considered to have originated in Franche-Comté or the Palatinate. The grapes are intended for the production of still wines, including oxidative styles such as vin jaune.

The plant is characterized by small or very small bunches and yellow-green berries, as well as rounded dark green leaves. The variety shows high potential for sugar accumulation while maintaining significant acidity and prefers soils rich in marl.
