The Oneca variety is an ancient white grape variety discovered and preserved by specialists at the Viticulture and Oenology Station of Navarre. The plant is a local variety that was officially registered in the state registry after a complex set of identification and virus-free testing procedures.

Currently, the variety is being preserved at experimental farms in Olite. Primary work on the variety is focused on studying its phenology and oenological properties; detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant are not yet available in published materials.
