Variety description

The variety is genetically identical to the Croatian variety Crljenak Kaštelanski and the Italian variety Primitivo. The vines are vigorous; the variety is classified as early-maturing, although it is prone to uneven ripening of berries within a single bunch.

Bunches are medium-sized and compact, which makes the variety sensitive to gray mold and downy mildew. Berries are small, round, and dark purple in color. It is used for the production of a wide range of red and rosé wines, characterized by high sugar content and a rich fruity taste.
