The variety is autochthonous to the western part of Andalusia, where it has historically occupied the main vineyard areas. According to genetic data, it originated from the natural cross-breeding of the Hebén variety with an unknown pollinator variety.

The plant is vigorous, late-maturing, and is characterized by high yield and good drought tolerance. Clusters are large and compact; berries are medium to large in size, yellow-green in color with a medium-thick skin. The variety is adapted to cultivation on poor, neutral alluvial soils.

Wines from this variety can range from light, with aromas of apples and fresh herbs, to full-bodied aged beverages with notes of vanilla and dried fruits. At present, plantings of the variety are gradually decreasing and being replaced by other varieties.
