The variety is the result of a natural cross, belongs to the mid-season maturity group, and has early to mid-season bud break. The vines are vigorous, semi-erect in growth habit, and form medium-sized bunches ranging from loose to moderately compact. The berries are medium-sized, short-elliptical or spherical in shape, with thick skin and a yellow-green color.

The variety is characterized by high yield and relative drought tolerance, but is susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew, and is also sensitive to flower abortion and bunch-stem necrosis. It is relatively resistant to gray mold. There is a rare color mutation of the variety with reddish skin — Xarello Vermell.

The grapes are used to produce still and sparkling wines that possess high acidity, structure, and aging potential. The aroma and flavor of the wines include notes of citrus, apple, pear, as well as mineral and vegetal nuances. The variety tolerates aging in oak barrels well.
