Captain Shelby variety produces flowers of saturated purple-brown color, 6–6.5 cm in diameter and 10–11 cm in height. The plant is characterized by compact size and reaches 30–40 cm in height.

The variety's dark green leaves feature a striped pattern and measure 20–25 cm in length and 4–5 cm in width. The plant is suitable for use in floral arrangements, as well as for growing in pots or in garden flower beds.
