The hybrid is a single-cross developed in France in the 1960s. Currently, it is not a commercial variety for mass production and is considered historical breeding material.
In scientific literature, the variety is often used as a model organism for plant physiology studies, including research on the root system, substance transport, and response to hypoxia. It also serves as a standard reference when assessing maize susceptibility to viruses, particularly the maize streak virus, to which it shows susceptibility.
