Glycine max (L.) Merr.
A group of infectious soybean diseases caused by specialized pathogenic bacteria, including bacterial blight, bacterial pustule, bacterial wilt, and seed rot/seedling blight.

The pathogens of the main soybean bacterial diseases are Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. glycinea, which causes bacterial blight; Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines, responsible for bacterial pustule; Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens, which triggers bacterial wilt; as well as a complex of species from the genera Pseudomonas and Xanthomonas affecting seeds and seedlings.
Symptoms include the appearance of angular yellow-brown spots with a chlorotic halo in bacterial blight, the development of characteristic raised pustules on the underside of leaves in bacterial pustule, daytime wilting and necrosis in bacterial wilt, and rotting of cotyledons with the formation of slime and exudate in seed/seedling bacterial rot.
In the genetics of soybean resistance to these pathogens, the focus has shifted towards strain-based classification rather than races. Cultivar resistance to bacterial diseases in most applied descriptions is considered a qualitative trait, while specific loci and resistance genes have been studied in less detail than those for fungal infections.
