White Mold — White Mustard

Sinapis alba L.

A disease of white mustard caused by the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, characterized by rare instances of infection and low prevalence in crops.

In the reference 4 varieties crop White mustard, where this is mentioned in the description.

The causative agent of sclerotinia rot in white mustard is the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The disease manifests as the formation of dense white mycelium in the basal zone or on the stems of the plant, which subsequently develops sclerotia. As a result of the infection, the stem rots, leading to breakage and subsequent wilting of the crop.

Unlike a number of other fungal diseases of white mustard, such as downy mildew or alternaria leaf spot, cases of white mold development are recorded significantly less frequently and are often sporadic. Specific data on pathogen pathotypes, as well as information on identified resistance genes to this pathogen in white mustard, are currently unavailable.
