Bidens ferulifolia serves as an infill annual in border plantings, creating a solid flowering carpet. Unlike trailing varieties, compact cultivars are selected for borders and planted at intervals of 30–60 cm, which allows the plants to close their canopy by mid-season, suppressing weed development.

A high vegetative growth rate, heat tolerance, and the ability to bloom for extended periods without deadheading make this crop optimal for open, sunny sites. To form a dense clump and prevent the base of the plant from becoming bare, pinching the shoot tips at a young age is recommended.

An important agrotechnical requirement when creating borders is ensuring good drainage. Excess soil moisture leads to root system damage in Bidens, so areas with a risk of water stagnation are unsuitable for using this plant.
