A fungal disease of white mustard caused by Leptosphaeria maculans and Phoma lingam. It manifests as lesions on the root collar and stems, leading to reduced plant productivity.

The disease, caused by the fungi Leptosphaeria maculans and its anamorph Phoma lingam (as well as Leptosphaeria biglobosa), appears on the aerial parts of white mustard as dry, light-brown spots with dark margins. Numerous black pycnidia form on the affected areas.
The infection can attack the root collar and stems of the plant, triggering the development of stem canker. White mustard's resistance to Phoma stem canker is often assessed as intermediate, and specific resistance genes similar to the Rlm system in oilseed rape have not been described in breeding for this species.
