Fusarium wilt of perennial ryegrass

Lolium perenne L.

A complex of fungal diseases of perennial ryegrass manifesting as Fusarium patch and root rots. The pathogens include Fusarium species as well as Microdochium nivale.

In the reference 33 varieties crop Perennial ryegrass, where this is mentioned in the description.

Fusarium diseases of perennial ryegrass are caused by a complex of fungi, among which Microdochium nivale triggers the development of Fusarium patch, while species such as Fusarium oxysporum, F. culmorum, F. graminearum, F. solani, F. avenaceum, F. proliferatum, and F. chlamydosporum cause root and stem rots.

Fusarium patch manifests as orange-brown spots up to 2 cm in size, which can coalesce and become covered with mycelial growth under high humidity during cool periods. Stem and root rots are characterized by the darkening and softening of the stem base, followed by plant lodging and wilting.
