Cucumber plant density is an agronomic parameter representing plant spacing, which determines the conditions of nutrition, light availability, and photosynthetic activity, depending on the hybrid type and training method.

When cucumber plantings are too dense, characteristic morphological changes occur: stem elongation, increased internode length, and reduced branching. These processes lead to a delay in the onset of fruiting, a decrease in parthenocarpy, slower fruit development, and an increased risk of disease due to poor aeration.
Optimal parameters depend on growing conditions: in winter-spring greenhouses, they range from 2.0–3.5 plants per m²; on trellises in open fields — 3–6 plants per m²; in commercial plantings — 10–15 plants per m² (up to 20 for short-vined varieties); and in seed crops — approximately 70 thousand per ha.
