In the state variety testing system, the lodging resistance of beans is assessed on a point scale, where 5 points are assigned to resistant crops without damage, and 1 point to plants with a complete loss of vertical position. Evaluation is carried out from the onset of the trait until harvest, with initial observation at the time of lodging and a follow-up assessment 5–10 days later to record the dynamics.

Key factors for lodging include the genetic predisposition of the variety, excessive nitrogen nutrition, high crop density, and unfavorable weather conditions. Technologically, lodging leads to grain losses and degradation of grain quality due to impaired drying of the plants. Improving resistance to this phenomenon is facilitated by adhering to optimal sowing dates, which ensure the development of a robust root system and the formation of stronger stems.
