The final realization of a melon's genetic potential directly depends on the variety's homeostasis, agricultural practices with an emphasis on potassium nutrition and irrigation, as well as the level of resistance to pathogens such as powdery mildew and Fusarium wilt, infection by which can reduce yields by 25% or more.
