The basic requirement for raw materials received at factories is a sucrose content of at least 16%.
Depending on their sugar accumulation potential, hybrids are categorized into E, N, Z types and their intermediate variants, with ZZ being the most sugar-rich. Optimal harvest dates are determined by the point of technical maturity, when sugar accumulation reaches its peak.
The sugar content index is negatively affected by excessive nitrogen fertilization and unfavorable weather conditions. Optimizing phosphorus and potassium nutrition has a positive effect on the stabilization and growth of this indicator, while on alkaline soils, sodium can partially substitute for potassium.
