Brassica oleracea L. (White Cabbage Group)
A condition in cabbage plants where non-viable pollen is produced due to mutations in the mitochondrial genome. It is used in plant breeding to produce 100% F1 hybrid seeds and ensure high crop uniformity.

Cytoplasmic male sterility in white cabbage is inherited through the maternal line. In the breeding process, specialists classify plants as sterile when anthers degenerate or fail to dehisce, or as fertile when viable pollen is present.
