Variety traits

Rapeseed tolerance

Brassica napus L.

The ability of rapeseed hybrids to maintain productivity and viability under exposure to herbicides, pathogens, or abiotic stresses.

In the reference 74 varieties crop Rapeseed, where this is mentioned in the description.

Rapeseed tolerance to imidazolinone herbicides is caused by mutations in the AHAS gene obtained through breeding or genetic engineering methods. Trait evaluation is carried out under field conditions in a provocation background, where high tolerance is manifested by the absence of phytotoxicity: chlorosis, growth retardation, or death of the terminal bud.

When assessing diseases such as phoma stem canker, sclerotinia stem rot, alternaria blight, and verticillium wilt, tolerance is characterized by the plant's ability to limit pathogen development and minimize yield losses. The level of resistance is determined by scoring or by comparing the percentage of infection and disease severity against a standard under natural or artificial inoculation.

Tolerance to abiotic stresses, including drought and high temperatures, is measured by the retention of oilseed yield and oil content during unfavorable years. The indicator is always relative and is expressed either as a score or as a percentage of productivity reduction compared to a control variant.
