Grain sorghum tolerance represents the complex adaptability of the crop to abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, phosphorus deficiency, and low positive temperatures.

To evaluate salt tolerance, stress simulation is performed using osmotic solutions, measuring laboratory germination, germination energy, and root length. Genotypes with a germination rate of 61–100% are considered highly resistant to salt stress at the 13 atm level. In soil salinity, the indicator is assessed via the electrical conductivity of the extract in dS/m.
Drought tolerance is determined by comparing yields under contrasting conditions and calculating productivity indices, such as GMP and MP, as well as by assessing relative chlorophyll content in SPAD units. Phosphorus tolerance is characterized by phosphorus-tolerance coefficients and the efficiency of phosphorus accumulation in the grain.
Low tolerance to abiotic factors manifests as a decrease in seedling morphometric parameters by more than 1.5–2 times relative to the control. Agronomic assessment of tolerance allows for forecasting the ecological stability of hybrids and minimizing the risks of productivity loss.
