The yield of perennial ryegrass is characterized by the productivity of green mass, hay, and seeds, which depends on moisture availability, winter hardiness, and the age of the sward.

Seed productivity of perennial ryegrass reaches 0.9–1.1 t/ha under favorable conditions, while forage productivity can exceed 1000 ц/ha for green mass and 150 ц/ha for hay. The maximum productivity of the crop is traditionally recorded in the second year of stand utilization.
Yield indicators are significantly influenced by the shallow depth of the tillering node, which is 8–13 mm, increasing the risk of winterkill during snowless winters. Other important factors include the water regime, as the crop is sensitive to drought and waterlogging, and the optimization of row spacing during sowing to improve the stand structure.
