The assessment is carried out over several years to account for the alternate bearing habit.

In intensive orchards, the yield of cultivars reaches 18–32 t/ha, and the productivity of a single mature tree varies from 14 to 35 kg or more, depending on the cultivar. The stability of these indicators is directly linked to the need for selecting pollinizer cultivars, as many plum forms are self-sterile.

Highly productive cultivars with a compact growth habit are the foundation for intensive cultivation technologies. To prevent branch overloading, breakage, and fruit size reduction, plum agronomy includes fruit thinning, which is necessary to maintain the commercial quality of the harvest.
