Early-maturing varieties ripen within 50 days, including ultra-early forms from 28 to 36 days; mid-early varieties reach maturity in 51–60 days, and mid-season varieties in over 60 days. There are late-maturing forms with a development cycle of up to 200 days, however, their significance for mass commercial production is limited.

The transplanting method is used to reduce the time the crop spends in the field, and the intensity of nutrient application is adjusted based on the rate of yield formation.
