When growing lilies in protected soil, maintaining a soil temperature of up to 15°C during the post-planting period is a critical factor, as it ensures the formation of basal and stem roots, as well as stem strength. Shading, mulching, and irrigation water cooling are employed to control this parameter.

The light regime significantly influences plant development: during winter forcing, supplemental lighting is necessary for Asiatic and LA hybrids to ensure a 16-hour photoperiod to avoid bud drop. In summer, shading is required to prevent overheating and scorching.

Lilies are often grown in specialized substrates, such as peat or coconut coir, using drip irrigation. Root-zone irrigation avoids moisture on leaves and buds, reducing the risk of Botrytis development, while maintaining general greenhouse humidity within the 70–80% range.
