The variety was selected from seedlings obtained from seeds from China and developed in the university orchard in Davis, California. The fruit of the variety has a tapered shape with a characteristic small beak and is almost devoid of stiff hairs, which distinguishes it from Actinidia deliciosa.
Upon ripening in early September, the fruit flesh acquires a cream-yellow hue, and the sugar content reaches 13.5–15.0 °Brix. The average fruit weight is about 106 g. The plant's fruiting habit is similar to the Hayward variety, with the formation of one or two fruits at the basal nodes.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
