The variety is a tetraploid, vigorous, fast-growing deciduous vine reaching a height of 4–6 meters. It was obtained through open pollination of the Chinese variety Zao Xian and is also known by the breeding code 134.16.

The plant does not produce fruit and is used exclusively to provide fertile pollen to female plants in commercial plantations. The variety is distinguished by high pollen viability and the ability to flower earlier than many Actinidia deliciosa varieties, which ensures effective seed setting and fruit formation in partner varieties.
