The variety is also known by the names Rouge Pâle de Huy, Bleekrode van Hoei, Platte Roode van Hoei, and Rouge Plat de Huy. The plant is characterized as hardy, well-adapted to the local climate, and easy to grow, preferring sandy soils.
The bulbs have a round, slightly flattened shape and a dark red, sometimes pale wine-red color. The growing season ranges from 100 to 220 days. When sowing seeds in the open field in March–April, it is recommended to maintain a distance of about 25 cm between rows.
