Bulbs of the Dorata di Castelnuovo Scrivia variety have a regular ovoid shape and uniform color. Externally, they are covered by at least four to five dense outer scales of a copper or golden hue, which may exhibit radial copper stripes. The internal structure consists of white flesh, composed of at least seven succulent scales.
Due to the strength of the outer scales, the variety possesses high resistance to mechanical damage during transport and good keeping quality in storage. It is a local landrace ecotype maintained through traditional selection of the best planting material by local farmers.
