American-bred variety developed from old yellow onion populations to provide an early harvest in northern latitudes. It was intended for use as an early crop suitable for winter storage.
The bulb has a classic globe shape and straw-yellow dry scales. The flesh is dense and white. Flavor characteristics are described as sharp or semi-sharp.
The variety is adapted for cultivation under long-day conditions and is distinguished by reliable maturity during a short growing season. Currently, the variety is considered an heirloom and has practically disappeared from broad commercial sale.
